Turkish police officer killed in PKK attack

HAKKARİ

A Turkish police officer was killed in an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeastern Hakkari province on Aug 4.

He succumbed to his wounds in the Yüksekova State Hospital, Anadolu Agency reported.

Eight other police officers were wounded when PKK militants detonated an improvised explosive device while an armored police vehicle was passing, according to local reports.

The Turkish security forces have intensified against the PKK - listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU - since a peace process collapsed in 2015.
