Turkish naval platforms take center stage at Teknofest in Gölcük
KOCAELİ
Turkish Navy vessels sailed through the İzmit Gulf on Aug. 19 ahead of Teknofest’s maritime-focused Blue Homeland event, which runs from Aug. 20 to 23 at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard Command in Kocaeli.
Residents carrying Turkish flags gathered along the waterfront to watch the ships pass.
The route began off Altınova in neighboring Yalova and continued past Karamürsel, Gölcük, Başiskele and İzmit before ending at Derince.
Vessels taking part in the display included Türkiye’s largest warship, TCG Anadolu, as well as TCG Heybeliada, TCG Derya, TCG Salihreis and several submarines and support ships.
Organized by the Defense Ministry and the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation, known as T3, Teknofest Blue Homeland will focus on naval, maritime and underwater technologies.
Visitors will be able to tour TCG Anadolu, the historic Savarona and a selection of frigates, corvettes and submarines.
The exhibition will also feature unmanned surface and underwater vessels, aircraft, missile systems, air-defense platforms and a test block developed under Türkiye’s MİLDEN national submarine program.
The program includes competitions in unmanned underwater systems, underwater rockets and unmanned surface vessels, along with demonstrations by underwater commando and naval aviation units.
