Turkish military kills three PKK militants in northern Iraq

Three outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were killed in airstrikes carried out by the Turkish Air Forces in northern Iraq on Aug. 1.        
         
In a statement, the General Staff said the air operation was launched in the Zap and Metina regions of Iraq.        
         
The militants were planning attacks on security checkpoints in Turkey along the border with Iraq, the statement said.        
         
The raid also destroyed shelters and weapon emplacements of the group, it added.
