Turkish military captures 3,753 migrants on Syrian border in last two days

ANKARA

Some 3,753 migrants were caught trying to enter Turkey illegally from Syria between Nov. 13 and 14, the Turkish General Staff has said. 

In a statement posted on its official website, the Turkish General Staff said the military captured an additional 22 migrants trying to enter Syria illegally from Turkey over the same period.

Eleven electronic devices were seized on the Syrian border on Nov. 13.

The General Staff also gave information on Turkey’s borders with Iran, Greece and Bulgaria.

Security forces seized 49,500 packs of cigarettes trying to be smuggled into Turkey through the Iranian border on Nov. 13 and 14.

Separately, 172 people were captured while trying to cross into Greece illegally from Turkey on Nov. 13 and 14.

Separately, on Nov. 13, some 26 people were caught while trying to cross into Turkey from Iraq.

Additionally, security forces stopped 13 people trying to enter Bulgaria from Turkey on Nov. 14.
