Turkish intelligence chief holds Libya security talks in Ankara

ANKARA

Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT) chief İbrahim Kalın met senior Libyan officials in Ankara on Aug. 4 for talks on bilateral cooperation and efforts to maintain security and stability in Libya, Turkish security sources said.

Kalın held talks with Government of National Unity Deputy Defense Minister Abdul Salam al-Zoubi and Ibrahim Dbeibeh, national security adviser to Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah.

The meeting covered developments in Libya and the wider region, steps to advance Türkiye-Libya cooperation and efforts to preserve stability, according to the sources.

Al-Zoubi and Dbeibeh praised Türkiye’s role in Libya, while Kalın said Ankara would continue supporting peace, stability and national unity in the country.

He also reiterated Türkiye’s support for efforts to bring Libya’s eastern and western administrations together under a single national framework.

In a separate meeting, Kalın and Libyan Interior Minister Imad al-Trabelsi discussed additional measures to strengthen security and stability.

Kalın said Türkiye would continue supporting Libya’s security and development and cooperating closely with Libyan authorities on counterterrorism, human trafficking and irregular migration across North Africa.
