Turkish governor deletes image of self in traditional clothes to invite Chinese to Antalya

A Turkish governor who became an instant phenomenon among social media users after sharing a picture of himself wearing traditional clothes to invite Chinese people to the Mediterranean resort of Antalya has deleted the post, Doğan News Agency reported on May 15.

Antalya Gov. Münir Karaloğlu visited China’s Anhui province to ink a sister city protocol with Turkey’s resort province. 

He later shared an image on his Twitter account showing him in a traditional Chinese suit sitting on a golden throne with a caption saying, “I saluted China and invited them to Antalya.”  

The governor’s post immediately drew great attention from Turkish social media users, receiving hundreds of comments and reactions.

He later deleted the post, the agency said.
