The Turkish Foreign Ministry has published a book titled “What He Said and What He Wrote,” in which a collection of texts by Ambassador Gündüz Aktan, prepared at different stages of his career, are included.

His works on the Armenian issue have come to the forefront, but Aktan was a revolutionary diplomat during his career in many areas, Feridun Sinirlioğlu, undersecretary of the Turkish Foreign Ministry said yesterday at a gathering to introduce the book.

While speaking about Aktan, restricting his works to the Armenian case is injustice, Murat Yetkin, editor-in-chief of the Hürriyet Daily News, said addressing the meeting.

Aktan left the Foreign Ministry in 1998. He chaired the Ankara-based think tank Center for Eurasia Strategic Studies Center (ASAM) and regularly wrote columns in Turkish daily Radikal on domestic and foreign policy developments between 1998 and 2007, and then he joined the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) as a lawmaker.

The veteran diplomat passed away due to a heart failure at the age of 67 in 2008. k HDN
