Turkish drama stars to compete in Seoul

Beren Saat (L) and Kenan İmirzalıoğlu will compete to receive the best actor and best actress awards at the Seoul International Drama Awards on Aug 30.

Famous Turkish actress and actor Beren Saat and Kenan İmirzalıoğlu will compete at the Seoul International Drama Awards, daily Hürriyet has reported.

Saat, who played the leading role in the TV series “Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne?,” is nominated in the Best Actress category at the Seoul International Drama Awards, which will be held in Seoul.

Meanwhile İmirzalıoğlu is nominated in the Best Actor category for his role in “Ezel.” The TV series “Ezel” will also compete in the Best TV Serial category with “Broken Promises” (Colombia), “Deep Rooted Tree” (South Korea), “The Princess’ Man” (South Korea), “Moon Embracing The Sun” (South Korea), “Gran Reserva - Vintage” (Spain), “Home of People’s Hearts” (China) and “The Firm” (USA). The festival;s finale will be held Aug. 30 at the National Theater of Korea.

The Seoul International Drama Awards was launched in 2006 in the hope of becoming the one and only global TV drama festival.

The award festival has over the years been able to expand and develop its scale to the world-class level thanks to the interest and encouragement of many drama fans and drama producers’ continuous passion and efforts.

Entries from 45 countries
This year 201 drama entries from 45 countries have been submitted to the competition with the new submitting countries including Iceland, Estonia, U.A.E and Qatar.

The Seoul International Drama Awards will put more effort forth to bring in top-notch dramas through fair competition and host a festival where professionals and fans can interact and communicate with each other openly.
