İZMİR – Demirören News Agency

A Turkish doctor who was detained for having secretly recorded his female patient while examining her has been released under judicial control.

The doctor was working at Dokuz Eylül University’s hospital in the Aegean province of İzmir.

He was detained on Jan. 9 on grounds that he was secretly recording his female patients and was publishing the recordings on a foreign social networking site.

After completing his procedures at the police station, the doctor testified to a prosecutor.

The doctor was transferred to an İzmir court with an arrest request. He was, however, released under judicial control on the same day.

“Our personnel, who is suspected to have committed a crime on storing and recording confidential information, has been laid off, and administrative and legal investigations have been initiated against him,” the university’s medical faculty deanery stressed in a written statement on Jan. 9.
