Turkish Defense Ministry slams Greek minister's remarks

ANKARA
The Defense Ministry condemned on Dec. 9 Greek defense minister Panos Kammenos’ recent remarks on Turkey, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

"We strongly condemn Greece defense minister for his new statements on a radio channel, which lack manners, cognition and responsibility, and we are returning his expressions back to him,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added the Greek minister's statements had been provocative, especially at a time when the two countries were trying to cooperate with each other on bilateral and regional issues.

The aim of the statement is to destroy the efforts between the two countries, the ministry added.

Turkey had previously slammed Kammenos' harsh remarks on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Foreign Ministry had asked the Greek minister to act in a manner "befitting the dignity of his position."
