Turkey’s automotive production down 8 pct

Automotive production in Turkey was down eight percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012.
According to figures released by the Automotive Industry Association (OSD) yesterday, the country’s automotive production was down eight percent and car manufacturing was down 16 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012.

Overall automotive production was 144,000 vehicles. Turkey produced 98,000 cars in the above mentioned period. Turkish-made automobile sales were down 17 percent, while the decrease in imported automobile sales was 22 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012.

Auto exports witness 6 percent decline

Moreover, Turkey’s automotive exports were also down six percent.

Turkey exported 200,000 automotive products and 113,000 cars in the first three months of 2012, according to the OSD data.
