Turkey wins Counter Strike GO championship in Belgrade

BELGRADE
Turkey won the Counter Strike GO (Global Offensive) World Championship held in the Serbian capital Belgrade on Oct. 9, daily Hürriyet has reported.

The five-member team defeated Argentina in the tournament’s final, winning the $50,000 top prize.

The first encounter of the final series took place on the “de_train” map in a best of three format - instead of best of five - due to delays, videogame website GamexNow reported.

The Argentinian team started the encounter energetically and initially took the lead, before the Turkish team made a major come back and managed to win the first map 16-14.

The second encounter of the series was played on the “de_overpass” map, which was won comfortably by Argentina.

In the final, decisive round of the series, played on the “de_cbble” map, the Turkish team showed a much more assured performance, ultimately beating Argentina 2-1 overall and thus becoming the tournament champion.

Counter Strike GO is a first-person shooter video game, developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve Corporation and it was initially released in 2012. It is the fourth game in the main Counter-Strike franchise.
