Turkey to run national cyber-security drill

ANKARA

Turkey is preparing to run a national cyber-security drill in order to test possible vulnerabilities in its state institutions, Communications Minister Ahmet Aslan said on Nov. 16.

On Nov. 29, the informatics infrastructure of Turkey’s state institutions and their capacity to respond to security threats will be tested, Aslan said, calling on all public bodies to take part in the drill.

Aslan said the drill is part of a global awareness-raising effort on cyber-attacks, saying the exercise would both help improve security and strengthen coordination among institutions.

Around 20 public institutions will take part in the first phase of the drill, while around 50 will participate in the second phase.

At the end of the exercise, reports on security vulnerabilities will be shared with the participating institutions.
