Turkey has launched a process to hold a tender for a 1,000-megawatt (MW) capacity wind power plant at the end of July.

Details of the planned tender were revealed in the Official Gazette on April 13.

The initial ceiling price was set at $7 per kWh and the electricity purchase date was designated as 15 years.

Applications to bid in the tender must be made by July 27, according to the specifications.

Turkey recently completed a tender for the Konya-Karapınar Renewable Energy Resources Area Project (YEKA), which will enable Turkey to have 1,000 megawatts of solar power.

Energy Minister Berat Albayrak on April 12 said a similar tender would be held for wind power.

“The planned plant will then require investors to have over 65 percent local production and to make sure 80 percent of the engineers employed are local engineers,” Albayrak said, as quoted by state-run Anadolu Agency.
He stated that this would be one of the most important steps for Turkey’s National Energy Strategy, which he had previously announced.
