At least 10 PKK militants were neutralized in northern Iraq as part of Operation Claw, Turkish Defense Ministry said on June 4.

Authorities often use “neutralized" in statements to imply militants in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

At least six PKK militants were neutralized as part of the ongoing Operation Claw in northern Iraq, bringing the total number of militants killed since the beginning of the operation to 34, the ministry said on Twitter.

The Turkish Armed Forces launched Operation Claw against the illegal PKK on May 27.

Separately, the ministry said four militants were also neutralized during air operations in the Zap, Avasin, and Gara regions.

The jets pounded weapon positions, shelters, and ammunition depots used by the militants.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union.
