Turkey loses to Serbia at Eurobasket

ISTANBUL
Turkish national basketball team lost 80-74 to Serbia on Sept. 4 night in a EuroBasket 2017 Group D match played in Istanbul.

It was Serbia’s second victory in its third game in the group.

In its three games so far, Turkey has only defeated Great Britain in Sept. 4’s match.  Every team plays five games at the group level to advance to the final phase, with the first four teams in the six-team groups advancing to the Round of 16.

In its next Group D battle, Turkey will face Belgium on Sept. 5 night, where a victory would be a great morale-booster for the host team before the final match of the group phase.

The FIBA EuroBasket 2017 group stage is being held in Istanbul, the Finnish capital Helsinki, Tel Aviv, Israel, and the northwestern Romanian city of Cluj.

The tournament will end on Sept. 17 with its final match in Istanbul.
