Turkey denies claims Qatar, S. Arabia were not troubled by coup attempt

ANKARA
Turkey has denied claims that Saudi Arabia and Qatar were not troubled with the July 15 failed coup attempt aimed to overthrow the Turkish government.

“On the contrary, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have shown a firm stance against this coup attempt. Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud have phoned our President [Recep Tayyip Erdoğan] to express their support and solidarity at the highest level,” Tanju Bilgiç, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, said in a written statement late July 19.

The claim that the two Gulf countries were not troubled by the coup attempt was made by the Iran’s Farsi news agency.
