TÜRKEV to host 30th historical houses week

ISTANBUL
The Turkish Historical Houses Protection Association (TÜRKEV) will its the 30th “Historical Turkish Houses Week” starting Monday, May 14 in Istanbul and continuing in Eskisehir and the Phrygian Valley until May 20. The topic of the conference revolves around urban identity and the place of history and continuity within that identity. Speakers are drawn from the municipalities, including the mayors of Istanbul and Eskişehir, academics and journalists.

TÜRKEV was founded in 1976 by Perihan Balcı. It is a member of Europa Nostra and its aim is to be of benefit to the public.

The association has organized similar conferences periodically over the past 29 years in the northwestern provinces of Kırklareli and Çanakkale.
