Trabzonspor continued its almost flawless European campaign consolidating its place at the top in Europa League Group J with a 2-0 victory in Poland against Legia Warsaw on Nov. 7.

The victory leaves the Black Sea side almost qualified through to the next stage as Trabzonspor sits comfortably at first place in Group J with 10 points. Lazio is second with 8 points after defeating Apollon Limassol 2-1 in Rome. At 4 points, the Greek Cypriots have only slim chances of qualification.

After an untidy first half, Trabzonspor led by the Pole Adrian Mierzejewski and its French star Florent Malouda showed a more threatening face to its rivals, who stand at the bottom of the group with no points.

Mierzejewski, an ex-player of Polonia Warsaw, helped the Black Sea side by initiating the attack of the first goal against his former fiercest archrival in the 72nd minute.

The Pole striker connected Olcan Adın, whose cross was slightly headed by French star Florent Malouda into right corner of the net. The ball was deflected into the goal by the foot of Legia’s Portugues-born Cypriot defender Dossa Junior.

Malouda converted into the provider for Trabzonspor's second goal in the 78th minute, well assisting Olcan, who volleyed the ball home.

Trabzonspor will host Apollon Limassal on Nov. 28 in their next game.
