THY, Air New Zealand ink codeshare deal

ISTANBUL - Hürriyet Daily News
Turkey’s flagship carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) and Air New Zealand have signed a codeshare agreement on routes operated by both carriers connecting New Zealand and Turkey to each other via Hong Kong and Los Angeles.

The accord was signed by Turkish Airlines CEO Temel Kotil and Air New Zealand CEO Christopher Luxon at a ceremony held in Cape Town.

The agreement of the two Star Alliance members allows passengers to benefit from the networks of both airlines to travel between Turkey and New Zealand while also providing opportunities for THY passengers to visit Australia through Air New Zealand’s network.

THY has plans to operate the world’s longest non-stop flight, from Istanbul to Sydney in the coming years, Kotil had said in a recent interview with Air Transport World. During the first stage, the flights will include a stopover in Asia.

Meanwhile, Air Astana and Turkish Airlines have also inked a codeshare agreement on routes between Kazakhstan and Turkey, allowing passengers to benefit from a higher number of combined flights for better connectivity and increased travel flexibility between the two countries.
