Three soldiers killed in PKK attack in Turkey’s southeast

Three soldiers were killed while another soldier and a policeman were wounded in an attack by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Şırnak, the Turkish Armed Forces has announced on its website. 

Militants detonated an improvised explosive device while an armored vehicle was supporting a military operation in the Nur neighborhood of Şırnak’s Cizre district at 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 27. 

Three soldiers were killed in the attack, while two others, including a policeman, were wounded. The wounded individuals did not have life-threatening injuries, the announcement said.

The wounded soldier and police officer were transferred to hospital for treatment.
