Three Turkish soldiers were injured when a land mine exploded on a road in the southeastern province of Kahramanmaraş today.

A landmine exploded as a military vehicle was traveling on a road near the province's Umutlu village. A noncommissioned officer, a specialist sergeant and a private were injured in the blast.

The soldiers were conducting an operation to apprehend suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) who earlier attacked a hydro plant construction site, wounding a worker.

The injured soldiers were taken to Elbistan State hospital as military operations continued in the area.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
