Spartak Moscow striker and former Fenerbahçe and Karabükspor player Emmanuel Emenike has arrived in Turkey to testify in the country’s long-running match-fixing probe, Doğan news agency reported today.

Emenike left Fenerbahçe to join the Moscow giants last year before the court had finalized its decision in the case.

The Nigerian player was greeted by his lawyer and was taken to court to testify. He will join the other members of the Russian team once they arrive in Istanbul at noon.

While playing for Karabükspor in the 2011-11 season, Emenike, the team’s leading scorer, was mysteriously left out of the squad for a late-season fixture against Fenerbahçe that the Istanbul giants ended up winning 1-0, giving them a crucial boost in their bid for the title. Prosecutors allege that Emenike was told to sit the game out by Fener officials in return for being promised a transfer to the team in the off-season.

Emenike did make a summer move to Fenerbahçe but soon transferred to Spartak without playing a competitive match for the Yellow Canaries after the rigging scandal emerged.

Fenerbahçe will host Spartak tomorrow evening in the second leg of the teams’ Champions League playoff. Spartak defeated the Istanbul side 2-1 in Moscow last week.
