Six thousand job seekers are over 65: report

Over 6,000 job seekers are over the age of 65, according to official numbers of the Turkish Employment Organization (İŞKUR).

Out of the 2,439,885 job seekers in Turkey, 6,720 are older than 65 years, and 12,998 are between the ages of 60 and 64.

The majority of the over-65 job seekers are unqualified workers, the numbers show, and a small number of them are guards, farmers, gardeners, bureau officials, babysitters, cooks and drivers.

Over 9,000 of those who are between the ages of 60 and 64 are unqualified workers, and the rest are guards, farmers, productive laborers, bureau officials, cooks, drivers, caretakers and accountants.

Some 143,100 of the jobless people looking for work are bureau officials, over 40,000 are salespeople, over 47,000 are secretaries and 39,375 are accountants. Other people who are currently unemployed are made up of drivers, waitresses, babysitters, cab drivers, gardeners and mechanical engineers.
