Sergeant shoots private over argument

A sergeant in the Turkish army shot 20-year-old private, Birkan Çetinkaya, on Jan. 27 in Turkey’s Isparta, leaving him in critical condition, according to Doğan news agency.

The private and the sergeant began arguing around 6 p.m. for unknown reasons before the sergeant allegedly took out his gun and fired three shots at the private, hitting him once in the chest and twice in the legs.

Paramedics intervened immediately and the victim was taken to a nearby state hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The sergeant has been taken into custody.
