Russians cycle in alternative routes of Turkey’s Bodrum

MUĞLA – Anadolu Agency

Turkey’s leading tourism hotspot Bodrum, located in the Aegean province of Muğla, is becoming a heaven for bikers thanks to the special events organized by the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), the Anadolu Agency has reported.

“We have arranged a four-day bike tourism event in Bodrum. The first group that we hosted were the Russian tourists,” said Yüksel Aslan, regional manager of TÜRSAB, on Oct. 26.

Within the program, Russian bikers cycled around 220 kilometers in alternative routes of the district.

“We found out these biking routes and have been selling these programs to the tourists. We have started receiving the rewards of our work,” added Aslan, thanking the district governor for his full support.

Noting the importance of biking tourism, Aslan said, “The economic value of this sector in Europe is around 50 billion euros. Unfortunately, we have not succeeded in reaching its full potential in Turkey.

“There are good developments in biking tourism. Tourists leave here with happiness. I hope the number of the Russian bikers will ever increase,” said Ali Sonay, the manager of the tour operator.
