A Russian tourist has been arrested for stealing furs from a leather shop in the southern Turkish province of Antalya.

Police had found seven pieces of fur clothes when they raided a hotel room in the Kemer district on July 4 amid record-high temperatures in the popular tourist destination, Demirören News Agency reported.

The raid came after a local leather shop notified the police that a thief broken into the premise overnight and stole fur coats worth around $3,500.

Security camera footage led the police to the hotel room where Russian citizen Evgeny Siderenku was staying.

A local court arrested Siderenku, 32, on charges of theft and damaging property.
