Turkish businessmen in Russia employ 100,000 local people in their direct investments, which have reached a total $10 billion, according to Russian-Turkish Businessmen Association (RTİB) head Ali Galip Savaşır.

“Now it is time to speak of Russia,” he said, calling on the Turkish business community to make new investments in the country that recently became part of the World Trade Organization (WTO), further boosting incentives.

Nearly 3,000 Turkish companies are active in Russia, Savaşır told Anatolia news agency on the sidelines of an event to mark the 15th anniversary of RTİB.

“Our companies active in Russia do not only support economic relations between the two countries, but also employ nearly 100,000 Russian citizens,” he said.

The volume of construction works completed by Turkish contractors there has reached $35 billion he said, adding that the volume of ongoing projects is $3.5 billion. “It was impossible to dream of this in the past.”

The target of RTİB is to lend support to Turkish businessmen who want to invest in Russia, and it also holds social events to unite the “Turkish diaspora,” Şavaşır said, referring to the Turkish community in Russia.

Saying that he totally disagreed that some markets in Russia were saturated, Savaşır said every sector in the country needed investments by enthusiastic business people.
