'Prince of Persia'

The Original Apple II master copy of the "Prince of Persia" computer game has been discovered by accident in New York after going missing for 10 years, according to www.webpronews.com.

The game’s creator, Jordan Mechner, wrote on his blog that his father found the 3.5″ disks of the original game while he was doing spring cleaning. Unaware of the importance of the contents, he sent Mechner a box of “old computer stuff,” including “Prince of Persia” master disks.

“My dad called from New York to tell me he was doing some spring cleaning and had shipped me a carton of old games and other stuff of mine he’d found in the back of a closet. The carton arrived yesterday. My jaw dropped when I saw what was inside,” Mechner said.

“I’ve been searching for [Prince of Persia], off and on, for the past 10 years, pestering everyone from Doug Carlston to Danny Gorlin and everyone who ever worked at Broderbund, and finally gave up hope of ever finding it,” he said.

Mechner reportedly planned to adapt the codes to modern gaming platforms.
