Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to meet Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Masoud Barzani this weekend in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

According to Prime Ministry sources, Erdoğan will head to Diyarbakır on Nov. 16 to attend several ceremonies and meet Barzani. The prime minister will continue talks on Nov. 17.

Late last month, KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani held talks with senior Turkish officials, including Erdoğan in Istanbul.

During his visit, both sides agreed on the fundamentals of a comprehensive package of deals with Turkey to build multi-billion dollar oil and gas pipelines to ship the region’s rich hydrocarbon reserves to world markets, sources involved in the talks said, Reuters reported.

The deals could see the KRG export some 2 million barrels per day of oil to world markets and at least 10 billion cubic meters per year of gas to Turkey.
