Postponed Istanbul derby to continue from 57th minute

ANKARA

A Ziraat Turkey Cup semifinal game between Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş called off last week due to violence will pick up where it left off on May 3, but with no fans in attendance, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) ruled on April 25.

The derby will pick up with the 57th minute, said the ruling, which came amid rumors that visiting Beşiktaş could be awarded a default win.

The second leg of the Ziraat Turkish Cup semifinal on April 19 at Fenerbahçe Ülker Stadium was called off by the referee after Beşiktaş manager Şenol Güneş was injured by an object flung from the stands.

Güneş had to receive several stitches in his head.

After the incident, the Beşiktaş players and referees left the pitch.

Earlier on April 25, an Istanbul prosecutor called on coach Güneş, along with winger Ricardo Quaresma, leftback Caner Erkin and substitute goalkeeper Tolga Zengin to testify as victims in part of an ongoing investigation into the violence on the pitch.
