Police officer, civilian killed in PKK attack in Turkey’s southeast

One police officer and one civilian were killed in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in the Derik district of the southeastern province of Mardin on April 9.

PKK militants parked a bomb-laden car in front of police lodgings and opened harassment fire on the buildings at around 9 p.m. Police immediately responded to the fire, after which the militants detonated the bomb-laden car.

One police officer and one civilian passing near the scene were killed in the attack.

Security forces have conducted an operation to apprehend the PKK militants responsible for the attack.
