Police disperse group gathered to protest detention of HDP deputies in Turkish capital

Police intervened to disperse a group that had gathered to protest the detention of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) lawmakers in the Turkish capital Ankara on Nov. 4.

Clashes occurred in Yüksel Street in the central district of Kızılay between protesters and police officers, after police resorted to tear gas to disperse the group.

Meanwhile, clashes also occurred in the Esenler district of Istanbul, where police intervened with tear gas to disperse a group that had gathered to protest the detentions. 

In addition, clashes occurred between a group of protesters and a police vehicle following the deadly attack carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) with a bomb-laden vehicle in the southeastern city of Diyarbakır.
