Police detain daily BirGün reporter Zeynep Kuray in Istanbul

ISTANBUL

Police detained daily BirGün reporter Zeynep Kuray late on Oct. 25 at her residence in Istanbul, the paper has reported.

Kuray was detained at her residence in the Kadıköy district at around 10:30 p.m. during a police raid.

There was no immediate official confirmation on what grounds Kuray had been detained.

However, Kuray’s sister Sema Kuray told the daily that the reporter had been detained over her Facebook posts and was taken to a police headquarters on Vatan Street.

Her mobile phone was also seized by the police, according to Sema Kuray.
