Police detain 15 high-ranking soldiers in Gülen probe

ANKARA

Police on Dec. 22 detained some 15 high-ranking soldiers as part of an Ankara-based investigation into the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), reported state-run Anadolu Agency.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had issued arrest warrants for a total of 16 soldiers earlier, including 12 active officers, in nine provinces across the country, targeting the network’s “secret structure” within the Gendarmerie General Command.

In a statement, the prosecution also stated that three of the soldiers were retired and another had previously been dismissed from his duty.

During operations, police detained 15 of the soldiers while attempts to apprehend the other soldier have been ongoing.
