A passanger, who is believed to be an Orthodox Jew, was photographed covered by a plastic bag while flying on a plane.

The man is likely to be a descendant of the priests of ancient Israel – a Kohen – who are banned from flying over cemeteries, according to the Daily Mail.

As any contact with the dead is forbidden, wrapping oneself in plastic bags is seen as a compromise measure for many Kohen.

The photo of the man, who wore a Jewish skullcap, wrapped in a plastic bag has gone viral after being posted on Reddit.

The man attracted the attention of other passengers, who rushed to take photos of the unusual sight.
