Nine PKK militants killed in Turkey’s southeast: Army

A total of nine outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants were killed on Feb. 13 in the southeastern provinces of Şırnak and Diyarbakır, the Turkish General Staff has announced.

Three PKK militants were killed during clashes with security forces in Şırnak’s Cizre district on Feb. 13, while the bodies of 31 PKK militants were found during searches of six buildings, the statement said.

Two PKK militants were also caught during the search operations, according to the statement.

The number of PKK militants killed during operations in Cizre has reached 659, the statement added.

In addition, the Turkish General Staff also announced that six PKK militants were killed in Diyarbakır’s Sur district, increasing the number of militants killed in the district to 196.
