Nearly 8,200 people see Renoir painting in İzmir

Portrait ‘Madame Thurneyssen’ by Renoir is the most visited painting in Arkas.

Nearly 8,200 people have visited the Renoir painting being exhibited at the Arkas Art Center in the Aegean province of İzmir.

The center is exhibiting post-impressionist paintings from the collection of Lucien Arkas, executive board chairman of Arkas Holding. The portrait “Madame Thurneyssen” by Renoir has been the most visited painting in the center, which also exhibits 76 paintings including examples by Toulouse-Lautrec, Maxime Maufra, Louis Anquetin, Émile Bernard, Maurice Denis, Maurice Vlaminck, Édouard Vuillard, Louis Valtat and Georges Braque.

The exhibition, which had been scheduled to end Dec. 17 last year, has been extended three times. It will remain open until March 31, 2012.
