Veteran Turkish rock band Moğollar will delight fans of its long-popular music with a concert tonight at Mask Club Istanbul. Long an important fixture on Turkey’s rock scene, the group won the Grand Prix du Disque of the Charles Cros Academy (which was previously won by such groups as Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix) in 1971. Nearly all of the tracks on the album are compositions or traditional arrangements by Murat Ses, the group’s keyboardist, arranger and composer. Ses, however, left the band in August 1972. One month later, Moğollar replaced their soloist with the legendary Cem Karaca, who was then the soloist of Kardaşlar (Brothers). The partnership between Karaca and Moğollar lasted for two years, during which they produced the hit song Namus Belası. Tickets for the concert, which starts at 10 p.m., are available at Bilteix booths.
