Two people were killed in a mine explosion in the eastern province of Tunceli on Oct. 30.

The mine was reportedly planted by members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and exploded as a civil car heading to the Gendarmerie Station on the Tunceli-Ovacık highway passed by at around 6 p.m. The car was allegedly carrying supplies to the gendarmerie.

Soldiers were sent to the scene via helicopter. No statement has been made yet on the identities or conditions of those inside the vehicle.

Security forces took measures in the region against a second possible bomb attack, and an investigation was launched into the incident.
