Maroon berets perform cross-border commando raid on PKK: Report

The Turkish Special Forces Command, known as the Maroon Berets, has reportedly performed a commando attack on outlawed Kurdistan Worker’s Party's (PKK) camps five kilometers inside the Iraqi border, Turkish broadcaster NTV has reported.

Based on military intelligence, two battalions of Maroon Berets performed a short and effective operation against targets in the area, according to reports.

The troops returned to Turkey with the help of the Turkish Air Forces.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he did not have any knowledge about a reported cross-border operation on PKK camps.


Meanwhile, Turkey’s chief of General Staff, Gen. Necdet Özel, conducted a visit to the eastern province of Malatya and the southeastern province of Diyarbakır today to examine Air Force bases
