Many Turkish users have begun to access Twitter again, but an official from Turkey’s Telecommunications Authority (TİB) has denied that the block was removed.

Users in a number of Istanbul districts - including Merter, Kadıköy and Avcılar - have reported being able to access Twitter without changing VPN settings since 14:30 p.m., daily Hürriyet reported. Others reported receiving notifications from Twitter, despite still having no access to the microblogging site via mobile phones.

Twitter was blocked in Turkey at around 11:30 p.m. on March 20, hours after Prime Minister Erdoğan vowed to close down the social media platform.
