Major overhaul in critical cases shakes Ankara

Turkey's Higher Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) reappointed key judges and prosecutors in Turkey's ongoing high-profile legal cases today in a major shakeup.
 
Specially authorized prosecutor Cihan Kansız, who supervised the Ergenekon case, became a deputy chief public prosecutor in Istanbul, while prosecutor Savaş Kırbaş, who oversaw the "Balyoz " (Sledgehammer) coup plot case was appointed as the deputy chief prosecutor of Istanbul.
 
Prosecutor Mehmet Berk, who oversaw the ongoing match-fixing case, was appointed deputy chief prosecutor of Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district.
 
The judge in the Hrant Dink trial, Rüstem Eryılmaz, was appointed to Istanbul's Bakırköy district while the judge in the ongoing Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), Menderes Yılmaz, was appointed to the Aegean province of İzmir.
