Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has announced his party’s new slogan as “Turkey’s unifying power.”

“Millions of people see that the address of solidarity is the CHP, and gather around the party,” Kılıçdaroğlu said on Jan. 22, speaking at a meeting where the CHP’s strategy for the coming local elections was discussed.

He also addressed the ongoing corruption probes, saying that the government had been committing outrages against the principle of the rule of law since Dec. 17.

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has driven the country into a situation of “big polarization” and is no longer able to govern effectively, Kılıçdaroğlu said, adding that “whenever the country needs solidarity, the address had always been the CHP.”

The CHP head also said his party would announce “rooted changes” in its local administration in the second stage of its election campaign, claiming that it would be the only party to target the project of local administration reform in detail.
