U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan's tweet about superstorm Sandy quickly went viral over the past few days with nearly 5,000 retweets and thousands of replies directed at the star.

"WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (i'm calling it Sally)..? Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace," Lohan tweeted several days ago.

The web has responded strongly to Lohan's take on Sandy with 4,584 retweets and thousands of replies directed at the star. Many made fun of Lohan's statement while some just voiced bewilderment.

"You inspire me!" a user tweeted, while another said, "Taking precautions isn't negativity."

"If only you'd been there during Katrina to share that insight, maybe no one would have died or been homeless," one particularly unhappy user tweeted.

The storm so far has killed at least 45 people, including at least 18 in New York, Reuters reported. Millions of people faced epic flooding and lengthy power outages.
