Metallica’s 3D film “Metallica: Through the Never” is due out on Sept. 27 in IMAX theaters, and its soundtrack will be released the same week. The album “Metallica: Through the Never (Music from the Motion Picture)” is due out on Sept. 24 via Blackened Recordings, according to exclaim.ca.

Like the movie, the soundtrack documents the band’s 2012 sets from Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver. The double-CD live set is heavy on back catalogue classics, including cuts like “Enter Sandman,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “Ride the Lightning,” “Master of Puppets,” “One” and “Creeping Death.” The only song from their latest album, 2008’s Death Magnetic, included here is “Cyanide.” The album will also be released on vinyl later in the fall. It will be available on standard 33 1/3 RPM wax, in addition to a deluxe numbered edition on 45 RPM.

“Let’s hear it for the old-school soundtrack!” drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement. “Not only are we beyond psyched about our movie coming your way shortly, but the fact that we get to share the music directly in all these formats is way fuckin’ cool.”
