Journalist Soner Yalçın was released today in the ongoing OdaTV case, daily Hürriyet has reported.

Yalçın was accused of being part of the media wing of the alleged Ergenekon gang.

The case regarding OdaTV, an online news portal known for its harsh criticism of government policies, began after the police conducted a search of the website’s offices in February 2011 as part of the ongoing Ergenekon investigation.

Ergenekon is an alleged ultranationalist gang accused of plotting to overthrow the government by fomenting chaos in society.

The court, however, refused to release fellow suspects Yalçın Küçük and Hanefi Avcı.
