Jets hit PKK targets in Turkey’s southeast, northern Iraq

Turkish warplanes conducted air operations on June 21 targeting outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions both inside the country and in northern Iraq.

Turkish jets destroyed a total of 20 PKK targets in rural areas of the Lice district in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır between 4 p.m. and 4:16 p.m., in addition to another air operation in rural areas of the Şemdinli district in the southeastern province of Hakkari between 7:45 p.m. and 8:05 p.m.

The Turkish General Staff also announced that warplanes hit PKK targets in the Zap and Metina regions in northern Iraq between 10:13 a.m. and 10:21 a.m. and 10 p.m. and 11:11 p.m., respectively.

According to initial examinations, a total of 15 PKK targets, including sanctuaries and ammunition stores, were destroyed in the operations in northern Iraq, the General Staff said in a statement.
