Istanbul’s notorious traffic reached new proportions of chaos at rush hour on Oct. 7 due to accidents on the city’s main arterial roads.

An end-to-end pileup, which involved eight cars on a side road of the Haliç Bridge that crosses over Istanbul’s Golden Horn, led to extra density in traffic. The fire brigade rescued a driver, who was stuck in his car, while the road was cleared of cars and fully opened to traffic at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, a car accident led to the shutdown of a lane on the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, which caused the density of the traffic to increase from the European side to the Asian side.
