Iranian ambassador to Ankara condemns attack on CHP leader

ANKARA
Iran’s ambassador to Ankara has released a message condemning the attack which targeted a Turkish main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) convoy in which the party’s chair, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, was also present. 

Issuing a statement via Iranian IRNA news agency, Ambassador Mouhammad Ebrahim Taherian Fard said: “Respectful Kılıçdaroğlu, we have received the assassination attempt against you with sorrow. While condemning the act, we wish from great God health and success for you and [the] Turkish nation.”  

The CHP convoy was targeted on Aug. 25 by a group of outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in the northern province of Artvin in two successive attacks which saw a soldier who engaged in an exchange of fire killed.
